MagSi-WAX Beads with Weak Anion Exchange

MagSi-WAX magnetic silica beads are coated with a weak anion exchange surface and are ideal for the reduction of protein or peptide complexity. These beads are intended for: 

• Sample preparation and pre-fractionation prior to mass spectrometry and HPLC 
• Protein and peptide separation for multiple downstream applications 
• Detergent removal 
• Fractionation of clinical samples (serum, plasma, tissues, CSF, urine and cell lysate, etc.)
• Enrichment of phosphorylated proteins and peptides

Magnetic beads coated with a weak anion exchange surface enable easy handling in both manual and automated workflows. The high magnetic strength of the beads typically results in complete collection in less than 1 minute when magnetic force is applied. Fast and complete separation creates strong reproducibility as beads will not be lost during washing steps. Additionally, short incubation times for protein adsorption, desorption and magnetic collection make the process much faster than conventional column-based ion exchange chromatography. 

These beads act as a counter to magnetic beads coated with a weak cation exchange surface. The weak anion exchange beads are usually more suitable when more acidic proteins/peptides are expected in the sample. It is recommended to test both types of beads to determine which is best for the application.
